About Vertigo
by BogieHere is an article on Vertigo. I hope you find the information useful! Vertigo defined is a sensation of dizziness, faintness or lightheadedness that results from an impaired sense of balance and equilibrium. The symptoms of vertigo differ in individuals. You may feel as if you are sinking or falling, or that the room is spinning. You may also feel nauseated and have a loss of hearing. Vertigo can happen very suddenly, anywhere, at any time or sometimes a person may awake in the morning with vertigo. If you suffer with these symptoms, you should immediately seek medical attention and have a complete evaluation by your physician.
When a person is experiencing vertigo, it can be frightening to them. They feel as though they cannot control any movement and just want to sit still. You cannot even walk if you are having a bad attack because you can’t seem to control voluntary movement. You should never drive or operate any machinery and have a person stay with you to prevent fall or injury. Sometimes even after being evaluated by a physician, they cannot find the source of your vertigo attack and will simply prescribe a medication to keep on hand in case of future attacks. If you seem to get vertigo frequently, you should keep a record of your attacks and see if there is something that can be contributing to them. Doctor’s may also prescribe exercises such as Cawthorne Cooksey Exercises that may help to relieve future attacks. It is imperative to be under a physician’s care if you have experienced symptoms of vertigo. Vertigo Resources: - Vertigo (spinning sensation)- Dizziness, Balance Disturbance
